January 2, 2015
I can’t believe it’s 2015. Ava will be two next month. TWO! And I’ll be turning 30 at the end of January. It’s surreal, but not depressing. It’s also a milestone, and because of that, I’m going to try to make some big changes in my life this year. I feel, more than ever, that this is a clean slate. I can do anything. So I’ve thought a little bit on my goals, and like last year, want to share them with you.
This is my overarching, main goal this year. I want to live in the moment. Not worry about what people are saying on Facebook or thinking ahead to all the photo editing I have to do, but be present. I plan on putting my phone down more, to play more with my children, spend more quality time with my husband, and enjoy nights out fully.
I gained a stupid amount of weight this year. My clothes don’t fit and I’m easily exhausted. But instead of a diet, I’m just going to take little steps. The first is to eat less. We’ve started using smaller plates in my house for every meal. Problem is, we’ll usually go for seconds. My goal is to always have a little left on my plate at the end of the meal. You know, portion control. And I also want to move more. I bought a FitBit last year and plan on running a 5k at some point in the spring/summer. I want to be healthier for my family and for myself. Also, I want to have more meals at our house. Our schedules are hectic and we end up eating out a lot. I have a million cookbooks and I plan on going through them and trying more recipes this year. If you have a favorite recipe, I would love to have it!
We paid down some debt last year, but there is still plenty on our plate. I want to spend less to be able to save up for things that really matter (like a honeymoon!). I always spend way too much on baby clothes and makeup. And I have plenty of each. So I plan on really curbing my spending this year.
And that’s it. Three goals. I didn’t want to overwhelm myself this year (last year I had five, and it was hard to remember even that many). Small steps for big changes.
What are your personal goals this year? How did you do last year? (Here’s how I did.) I’ll be sharing my business goals next, so stay tuned!
