When Sharon first contacted me about her intimate wedding at The Edgemont House in Little Rock, I knew it was going to be the most perfect day. While I had another wedding that Saturday, my associate, Mel, was available, and I’m so happy she got to take the lead on this one. She captured every detail and every moment perfectly. I’ll let her tell the story below.
“From the moment I first spoke with Sharon over Skype, I knew she and Mike were about to have a wedding that would make everyone say, “is this even real?!” From the way she spoke about her sweet sons, and of her and Mikes love, and to how important it was to keep the day intimate and special, to the photos she sent of The Edgemont House; I was counting down the minutes until the wedding day would arrive!
As I rounded the corner to the Capital Hotel the morning of the wedding, the sun came streaming over the entrance to greet me, and I knew with that kind of warmth, this day was well on its way to heaps more magical moments. On my way to Sharon’s room, I was taken by the most adorable honeycomb tiled lobby, which I knew I had to incorporate into her details somehow. I was so pleased when she mentioned she loved them too, so there I began, taking care to capture her elegant details while she and her mother finished with hair and makeup. Her oldest son finished one of his many different Rubix cubes while they worked, and despite both of the boys not being fans of being photographed, they both nailed it the entire day.
The Edgemont House was even more extraordinary that I had imagined. There were elephant ears taller than me, perfectly curated walkways that lead to new scenery every direction you laid your eyes, and the house…just simply a treasure. If you ever are in the area, this house is a MUST see.
One of my favorite moments of the day was watching Mike with the boys. They hand delivered a letter from Sharon, and when he started to read, he was so visibly overwhelmed with joy and excitement that this day was finally here. He was about to marry the love of his life.
Only moments later, he was in the courtyard surrounded by his closest friends and family. The harpist played a subtle melody as Sharon approached him with her graceful smile. Even when the rings were dropped, the show went on with understanding giggles and relief, and then they were one!
Following their ceremony was brunch reception. Complete with a Bloody Mary bar, the most adorable pancake sandwiches, chicken and waffles, sweet potato biscuits and many more delicious treats. If brunch on your wedding day doesn’t sound like a slice of heaven on an endless plate of awesome, I don’t know what does!
Everyone mingled until Mike and Sharon said farewell, driving away in their classic car. It was the perfect end to the perfect day.
I’m having pinch me moments again while re-living this day. I am so grateful to have been trusted to capture this day for Mike and Sharon, and cannot wait to see what their future holds!”
So thankful for all of you, and congratulations to Mike and Sharon. Thank you for trusting us to capture your memories!
